This is a recap blog post of a webinar with our great partner Teltonika Networks.

Teltonika Networks provides and manufactures devices for the most complex areas of Industry 4.0, Smart City, and Green Energy.

We were eager to learn about the need for flexible global connectivity from the manufacturers' perspective. And share our insights about eSIM and the potential of eSIM for industrial IoT.

Here's the recording of the webinar.

Here's a quick recap of what was discussed.

eSIM means simplified manufacturing with one SIM card and cellular module. Standardised production means cost and time savings and fewer human errors because every device contains the same hardware and SIM combination.

Yet, the IoT device with eSIM is adaptable to be deployed across the world. The sales team can be sure that the devices and service will work anywhere in the world. The ability to swap a carrier over-the-air and remotely means that you can always have the most suitable carrier profile.

Plus, the devices are future-proofed against coming network sunsets, pricing, or regulation changes. IoT connectivity can be unpredictable, but with 1oT eSIM, you can always be on top-of-your-game.

From the Teltonika Network's list of routers and modems, we have tested two for eSIM capabilities.

  1. RUT240
  2. TRM240

Both support eSIM which means that they allow swapping cellular carrier profiles "over-the-air" without touching the SIM card itself.

Manufacturing companies use cellular connectivity for the ability to monitor and study usage data. This allows them to offer excellent support with predictive maintenance. Or extend the lifetime of the machines for themselves.

The second aspect is the remote control. In industrial use cases, the machines are often deployed in the hard to reach locations. Remote access saves a lot of resources and helps keep the devices running.

No matter the use case, the connectivity needs to be flexible if the company is working globally. With 1oT eSIM, we can help you scale quickly and avoid logistical headaches when the equipment is required to move to another country.
