It has been a busy and productive year for the development team of 1oT Terminal. To wrap up, here is a summary of everything we have accomplished this year.

We already regularly publish changelogs about new improvements and updates, but today we will look back at our entire journey in 2022.

In reviewing all the projects we have completed, I have been able to identify 7 main themes. Let’s go through them one by one.

Customize billing and invoicing to match your needs

Many of our early adopters are no longer startups. So we needed to scale 1oT Terminal with them. One of the key areas of focus this year was to make our billing and invoicing system more flexible.

Split invoices between different business units

Now you can split your monthly invoices between different business units, which will save you a lot of time in manual cost entry if you have multiple business units in different countries.

Artur, the product manager of 1oT Terminal, has given a detailed overview of the functionality and its use cases in a blog post.

Prepaid billing option on the 1oT Terminal

We introduced an option to pay for connectivity services in advance, making it easier to stay connected. Now you just need to transfer money to your Terminal account and the correct amount will be automatically deducted when a billable event occurs.

Learn everything you need to know about the different billing options and initial setup here.

Multiple delivery addresses

Our latest addition to 1oT Terminal's billing logic is designed to simplify the SIM card ordering process and improve communication between you and your account manager.

1oT Terminal can now store multiple delivery addresses for receiving SIM cards. You can add delivery addresses for each of its branches or factories and specify the person who should receive the delivery.

Simplify eSIM implementation

At 1oT, we believe that cellular connectivity needs to be flexible and that the best way to achieve this is through the use of the eSIM. This year, we are doubling down on that belief in many ways.

Introducing 1oT eSIM Core

After a multi-year journey we launched 1oT eSIM Core, which is a cornerstone of 1oT's future services and products.

1oT eSIM Core is a GSMA-certified remote SIM provisioning (RSP) platform for IoT and M2M. In addition, 1oT eSIM Core leverages the best of both worlds by creating a hybrid combination of cloud and on-premise infrastructure.

This is a big step forward in our mission to make eSIM technology the IoT industry standard and drive the entire market to offer a modern, fast, and flexible connectivity service.

eSIM Management Tool Enhancements

Our great ambition for eSIM implementations goes hand in hand with great eSIM management. That's why we completely revamped the eSIM management tool in the 1oT terminal

The new and improved eSIM management tool includes updates to the general eSIM overview page and eSIM transaction flow that simplify the process for a higher number of successful deployments. In addition, the extended functionalities of the comparison tool help you find the most suitable telecom profile for your eSIMs faster.

Here is a step-by-step guide to make the most of the tool.

Automated eSIM testing

To increase the number of successful eSIM transactions and simplify deployment, we introduced an automated eSIM test app. It checks if your device is properly configured to perform an eSIM transaction and switch from one telecom profile to another.

The automated eSIM testing goes hand-in-hand with first getting started with 1oT eSIM.

Taking workflow automation to the next level

One of the most popular value-added apps, Workflow Automation, received a significant upgrade.

First and foremost, you are now able to optimize connectivity costs even further – use a wider variety of data packages-related automatic actions, and set triggers for custom time periods.

And although having multiple workflows enabled at the same time has always been there, 1oT Terminal now automatically catches the workflows conflicting with each other.

In addition to that, you can also set recurring workflows to schedule actions that take place far in advance.

To understand everything that was changed in the Workflow Automation app, there is a video overview to guide you through it.

Improve your data insights even further

To give you a thorough view of data consumption, connectivity costs, and usage across the entire SIM inventory, we have introduced a redesigned Analytics app.

Get real-time insight into your deployments and their consumption patterns. The app helps you easily identify areas that need your attention to make well-informed decisions. Additionally, export reports as CSV files from any analysis.

Secure devices with IMEI Lock

To prevent unauthorized access and misuse of your SIM card, we have introduced the IMEI lock feature as a part of the Diagnostics app.

The new feature allows you to restrict the use of the SIM card to a specific device identified by its IMEI number. This means that if someone gains unauthorized access to your device and tries to abuse your SIM card by plugging it into another device, the SIM card will automatically be taken offline and can no longer be used.

Invite your customers to 1oT Terminal with limited accesses

Often our customers are not the end users of the IoT devices. With the “sub-client” app, device manufacturers can let device owners handle the day-to-day SIM management.

This allows device owners to see real-time data usage, manage the SIM lifecycle, set up alerts, and make changes to their SIMs as needed.

To learn more about this functionality in action, here’s a dedicated blog post to guide you through it.

Accelerating everyday operations for power users

Slide-over for SIM details

Instead of being redirected to a new page when you click on the ICCID, you will see a slide-over with the same information throughout the terminal. The slide-over contains all the information from the SIM details page.

Quick SIM search

Wherever you are in the Terminal, bring up the search box to go to a specific SIM’s detail page. Just use the keyboard shortcut Cmd+K / Ctrl+K.

At 1oT, we are focused on simplifying cellular connectivity for IoT. We are constantly working to improve our tools and technology to support the next generation of high-impact companies.

We are excited to see what the new year brings and look forward to continuing our journey of growth and innovation.
